Chanel Tweed Fuchsia Blush

Holiday collections rock my socks.  Fall/Holiday usually sports my favorite colors of the year; deep, rich browns, jewel tones, and smoky looks are my favorites.  Chanel’s Holiday collection this year seems a little out of place – other than the quad, most of it is made up of shimmery pinks.  Still, I grabbed the two things that stood out to me, and one of them is the Duo Tweed Effect blush in Tweed Fuchsia ($45).

This is my first ever Duo Tweed Effect blush, as all my other Chanel blushes are Joues-Contrastes (JCs).  I can tell you that the shimmer on top is just an overlay, and it wears away to a more satin finish.  So if you run across a new one on display in store, don’t be put off by the shimmer.  Also, the “duo” part of Duo Tweed Effect means that when the design wears down, there will be two colors in the pan.  For Tweed Fuchsia, this color will be a brighter fuchsia pink and a softer, almost bubblegum pink (the two colors intertwined in the design).  Run your brush over both and you will get the same color as you got when it was new (UPDATE 10/05: I’ve been hearing that Tweed Fuchsia may be the only Tweed to remain fuchsia all the way through, meaning there’s no dual colors.  Yay! Can’t say if this is true yet as mine is new, but just be aware that it may be different than the other Duo Tweeds.)

I took two swatch pictures – both outdoors in natural light, one in more direct sun and one with overcast sun.  I tried to apply it as I would on my face, but I needed to go a bit darker for it to be super noticeable in pictures.

Direct sun

It looks much better on the face (it looks like I have some kind of rash on my arm here), but this is the bright fuchsia color you can expect from this baby.  You can apply lighter of course, and I do when I wear it, but this is the intensity you can reach.

I’m super glad I grabbed this.  It’s the only Tweed Effect I ever felt I needed to have.  If you aren’t an avid makeup collector and already have similar pinks, of course it’s not a necessity, but it is gorgeous and a refreshing pop of color for the fall and winter months.
